If you are currently a physician employed at a hospital, or
are an administrator interested in taking advantage of the
opportunities that exist in forming a fee-for-service physician
group, MBS can assist you in developing a separate corporation
to provide physician services within the hospital. Thousands
of hospitals and physician groups have already taken action
to capture the benefits involved with using independent physicians
groups as opposed to employees of the hospital.
One of the most important benefits with significant
impact on financial performance is the ability of a separate
physician group to bill and collect for their services.
Removing the professional component from the hospital’s
billing function and converting the global charge into only
a facility charge, causes insurance companies to reimburse
at a much higher rate than they would by receiving both
facility and professional charges on the same form. To realize
the maximum reimbursement from third party payors, professional
services must be billed on a HICFA1500 and facility charges
must be billed on a UB92.
With an emergency medicine, pathology, or
radiology group operating independently and billing separately
for their services, revenues to both the hospital and the
physician group will be permanently improved.
MBS provides complete feasibility studies
and revenue projections to assess the viability of the proposed
venture. We can also assist physician groups in arranging
financing for operating capital along with other business
dealings. Our experts oversee the entire process and involve
all required professionals, including attorney, accountant,
insurance broker, billing and collection services, as needed.
